CamperKing owner helps raise £11,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in team effort

A CamperKing owner has raised an incredible £11,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by completing a 26.2-mile marathon trail walk around the Lake District.

Chris O'Connor, along with fellow VW Transporter owners part of the VW Whoppers group in England's North East, completed the charity's Lake District Mighty Hike trail walk around Ullswater taking in breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding hills.

Chris and the team heard about the charity hike from a fellow member, Kirsty Maklam, who sadly lost her mother to cancer.

The Transporter enthusiasts used their VW Transporters to set up camp at Parkfoot campsite near Pooley Bridge before a 4am wake-up on the big day.

Followed by a short drive the next morning and a coach ride to the start line, the team were set for a 7.50am start for the hike.

In gruelling conditions, the team successfully crossed the finish line after 8 hours and 43 minutes with a few blisters, a lot of smiles and a huge sense of accomplishment holding their VW Whoppers flag as they received their finisher's medals and were passed a well-deserved glass of fizz.
