We are introducing two new models – the Pioneer and the Frontier – based on Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ largest van.
The Pioneer features a fixed-bed layout and is aimed at people who want a premium, spacious two-berth campervan. Meanwhile the Frontier offers flexible four-berth accommodation with a rear two-seater bed plus the option of having it fitted with a Jackdaw Overland (formerly Goose) pop-top roof.
CamperKing has been working with former Jaguar Land Rover interior designers to create the finish, features, fixtures and trim. Prices for the Pioneer start at £94,950 and £104,950 for the Frontier with the Jackdaw Overland roof included.
Our intention is to have a ready-for-market product in time for the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC Birmingham in February 2027. Orders will be open in October for spring delivery, and the company will be seeking Whole Vehicle Type Approval for both Frontier and Pioneer before any orders are fulfilled.
The launch of our VW Crafter-based concept campervan marks a really important milestone for the company. The Pioneer and Frontier give us the opportunity to take CamperKing into a new area of the market, while staying true to what has made our existing conversions so successful.
Customers have been asking for a larger product from us, and we will continue to gather their feedback as we develop the concepts in the coming months. Once final versions are launched at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show in February next year, the new range will enable current Transporter-based owners who want more space in a campervan to continue enjoying touring and the great outdoors with a CamperKing product.
We think the Pioneer and Frontier will appeal to a wide variety of customers. At one end, there are people who are looking to downsize from a larger coachbuilt motorhome but don't want to compromise on the facilities and comforts they have become used to. And at the other end, there are customers who love the concept and flexibility of a Transporter conversion but want more space and comfort, more storage, and greater capability.
Our new Crafter range offers models that sit perfectly between those two sections of the market while also appealing to people who are new to the pastime.
Ultimately, the Pioneer and Frontier give us the opportunity to offer our customers a genuine step up in size and specification without moving away from the style and usability of a CamperKing conversion in addition to our long-standing commitment to customer service and aftersales support.
