CamperKing has launched three new roof options for its VW T7 range of campervans.

Our new roof options went on display publicly for the first time during October at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC Birmingham.

We’ve introduced a new fabricated polycarbonate roof, a new roof tent in partnership with outdoor brand Vango, and the Freescape SDZ – a unique inflating roof tent contained within a side-opening pop-top roof.

And at the same time, we are also launching an innovative utility-style roof for our new Crafter range. You can read more about the new Crafter range models – the Pioneer and Frontier – here.

Never standing still

Innovation is a primary driver at CamperKing – it’s part of our DNA – and we’re really pleased to be launching three new roof options for our campervan customers.

The pop-top roof is a practical and much-loved aspect of campervanning that provides additional sleeping space and somewhere to simply relax and enjoy the surrounding views so it’s really important we continue to innovate our products.

New CamperKing fabricated polycarbonate roof

CamperKing’s inhouse team has created an all-new manufactured polycarbonate roof for short wheel-base T7 campervans. The roof provides greater strength, heat resistance, durability and customer peace of mind – and all in a lighter package, weighing about 30kg less than the company’s current pop-top roof. A version for long wheel-base campervans is currently in development.

The polycarbonate roof comes with CamperKing’s new latching system that uses a lockable, positive catch mechanism for greater assurance and reliability when securing the roof.

We are also introducing an all-new upgraded roof tent that has been designed specifically for use with the company’s new polycarbonate roof.

It has been created by Vango exclusively for CamperKing and is made from premium Tencate fabric with 100% polycotton construction, which means it’s more breathable and hard-wearing. The roof tent has a 400mm hydrostatic head – a rating used to calculate waterproof capability.

The tent has larger windows including mesh windows and covers at the sides, and a three-layer mesh and PVC window with a cover at the front, which allows in more light. We also sell a matching awning from Vango in the same colourway. The roof remains fully unzippable, in the same way as CamperKing’s current safari-style roofs are.

In addition, we are now offering a unique inflating roof tent, contained within a side opening pop-top roof, to customers buying a build-to-order short wheel-base VW T7 campervan.

The Freescape SDZ has easy to inflate beams and, because of its side opening system, provides 2.4 metres of headroom from front to back in the habitation area of the van. The sleeping space measures 140cm by 200cm and comes with a foam air mattress, pump, and insulated bed board.

There is also a three-layer tent construction for weatherproofing and durability, and it is still compatible with CamperKing’s solar panel products.
