TV Presenter Paul Cowland takes a Le Mans to Le Mans!
Strawberries and cream, peanut butter and jam, Morecambe and Wise, Le Mans and racing. This year, the famous French track is celebrating a rather special occasion with the latest instalment of the Le Mans Classic.
For a bit of background on the Classic, the biennial vintage car race was given a new lease of life in 2002, when the aptly named Peter Auto was able to get the race to use the full 13.65km track that is used during the 24hr Le Mans race, part of which includes public roads. 2023 also marks 100 years since Bentley’s founder, W.O. Bentley, entered his car into the famous old race for the first time.
As part of this celebration, well known TV presenter, and good friend of CamperKing, Paul Cowland, is heading over to cover the race with Car & Classic, who’s owner, Tom Wood, will be racing his very own vintage Bentley, a gorgeous 1925 3/4/½, a century after the first Bentley graced the circuit.
Paul, who has been at CamperKing HQ this week filming a whole new series of professional videos for our models, used the opportunity to take our Le Mans conversion back to it’s cultural home!
After a good night’s sleep at the local campsite Fir Tree Farm, it was time to hit the road for Paul, on the long journey down to Dover, and then crossing the Channel to begin a three-hour trip to the famous course. Obviously at any point in the year when there’s a race at Le Mans, hotel space is going to be few and far between, so together with CamperKing, Paul came with the idea to take one of our vans, meaning he can also park himself on the Porsche Curves.
Paul's journey to Le Mans can be seen here...
Enjoy the racing Paul, and we can’t wait to see more of our campervans around the iconic track!
