WATCH: CamperKing customer turns dealer by opening CamperKing Scotland
In the culmination of a fascinating journey with the CamperKing brand, one of our customers has taken the huge step of opening a new CamperKing campervan dealership.
Barry Brown, who over a period of several years has owned no fewer than five of our campervans, has teamed up with us to open CamperKing Scotland, a new campervan dealership on the Abbotsford Business Park in Falkirk.
The dealership will formally open in January, and Barry is busy working on a website and social media channels to promote it to prospective customers.
The opening of CamperKing Scotland completes a remarkable story for Barry, who began his journey with CamperKing in 2013 when he bought his first campervan at auction during our appearance at CarFest that year. He eventually won the auction by £101 – a sum of money that has literally changed his life since.
Barry said: "Having had a relationship with CamperKing, having had campervans and being an ambassador for the brand, I'm happy to announce I've gone a step further and will be opening CamperKing Scotland.
"I've had a long relationship with CamperKing and I do feel part of the CamperKing family, so it was really easy for me to take that brand on and be really positive about it. I know all about the vans and different specs, and I've become friends with a lot of the CamperKing team.
"I've secured a brand new unit, and have been measuring up for signage, getting an idea of how I'm going to lay it all out and can't wait to open up the doors!"
Barry has owned five campervans from CamperKing since the first one in 2013, collecting his most recent one in 2021. He later became a Club CamperKing ambassador, helping to offer inspiration and advice to our 2,200-member owners' group.
"We were already a family that enjoyed camping and the outdoors, and having the campervan just opened that up a bit more for us," said Barry. "My oldest kids have grown up with the campervan, and absolutely love it."
He added: "Campervanning is a passion of mine and I just felt if i could work doing something I was passionate about – that's the goal isn't it?"
It's a departure from the norm for Barry who already runs an existing business, a creative and marketing agency, which will continue.
CamperKing Scotland is close to Falkirk's well-known landmarks such as the Falkirk Wheel, a large canal lift that's also a major tourist attraction, and The Kelpies, a famous sculpture. Barry has big plans for the dealership including the prospect of running a guided trip, using his dealership as a base.
