Local Scout Leader, Rob Farquharson, joins the CamperKing Ambassador tribe

Group Scout Leader for First Shottery Beaver, Cub and Scout Group, Rob Farquharson, has joined as the latest CamperKing Ambassador.

Rob, who lives in Shottery with his wife and son, jumped at the chance to become a CamperKing Ambassador after previously renting a campervan at Ragley Hall for a festival, where he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

After becoming good friends with CamperKing's Managing Director, Spencer Grey and his family, Rob has used campervans at various events together including the Waterfall Charity Walk for Oscar’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity.

The Group Scout Leader has joined our ambassador programme thanks to his voluntary background as Group Scout Leader for First Shottery Beaver, Cub and Scout Group which involves regularly camping and attending events.

"I jumped at the chance [to be a CamperKing Ambassador]. Why wouldn't you? I'm thrilled to bits to be invited to join," said Rob.

As the group leader for the largest Beaver, Cub and Scout group in the Stratford district, Rob manages 120 children who attend the group on a weekly basis with the help of 26 volunteers.

Rob oversees the running of the group, finding new volunteers, inviting children young people to join, organising the camping trips alongside a team of volunteers beside him.

"People love it, as we're doing something for the kids, and Scouting is really important I think because it sets children up and give them skills for life," Rob explained.

"It's not just about the skills of camping and the wilderness, it's about them being decent individuals and having good manners, teaching them how to treat people, and then come the fun things like how to light a fire and cook your own food."

The group will first use their Monte Carlo CamperKing campervan at the Get In 2022 Scout event at Ragley Hall, Alcester, which up to 5,000 Scouts are expected to attend. The campervan will serve as a base from which to access power, lighting and seating which will be a huge advantage to them.

He added: "You've got the table in there, the chairs, it can be our focal point. It will be absolutely game-changing for us for camping. Fingers crossed it won't rain and it will be nice and sunny!"
