Everyone at CamperKing would like to take the time to congratulate CamperKing Ambassador and renowned goalkeeper, Ben Foster on a successful career in football and a happy future, as he announces his retirement from the sport.
After a career that saw him get capped by England eight times, make 536 senior appearances at club level and win the League Cup on three occasions, Ben called time on his playing career yesterday.
Announcing his retirement in a video titled ‘It’s time to say goodbye’ posted on his Cycling GK YouTube channel, Ben said "I've got an announcement to make, it's a big one. The time has finally come for me to announce my retirement."
Ben’s career has seen him make appearances for teams including Manchester United, Watford, Birmingham City, and West Bromwich Albion, before returning to Watford in 2018 and finishing up his playing days there at the end of last season.
Alongside football, Ben is known for the Cycling GK YouTube channel mentioned above, and in his latest video on the channel, he discussed his exciting post-football plans.
Giving CamperKing a shout-out towards the end of the video, he discussed how he plans to attend some of the biggest football derbies not only in this country but also derbies across Europe and will use his CamperKing campervan to travel to these.
Amongst the derbies, Ben mentioned are El Clásico, the derby between Barcelona and Real Madrid, known as one of the biggest in the world, the Old Firm derby between Celtic and Rangers, and the Derby della Madonnina between A.C. Milan and Inter Milan.
Talking to his lifelong friend and regular co-host, Tom Ochoa, and Tubes of Soccer AM fame, Ben discussed the features of his CamperKing Portofino. He described it as “all singing, all dancing” and it being “absolutely beautiful”, before declaring “if we are doing it in Europe, we are doing it in the CamperKing van!”
Once we have more details about their European football travel plans and once Tom and Tubes have decided who’s sleeping on which side of the bed, we shall reveal more. However, for now, we are saying well done to Ben on his 20-year playing career and we are excited as everyone else to see what comes next!
