Why buy from CamperKing?

Thinking about getting a campervan? Read on to see why buying from CamperKing gives you peace of mind

CamperKing was created in 2010 on a simple principle. If people were going to spend their hard-earned money on a campervan, they needed a quality product that was supported through excellent after-sales service.

That principle was driven by owner and Chairman Spencer Grey who felt his own experiences of buying and owning a van could be improved greatly especially given his professional background in the automotive sector running what was at the time the UK’s biggest VW dealership.

Spencer said: “I was used to German car manufacturer standards where you would have a service department, a warranty and back-up support.

“So the concept was not just to sell you a product but respect the fact that you just spent life savings or retirement money or your disposable income on the promise of adventure and dreams, and you deserve some back-up, service and warranty after you bought it.”

Spencer felt he could do better – and CamperKing was born.

Key credentials

Having the right credentials and official seals of approval are vitally important to CamperKing as they provide our customers with peace of mind when it comes to safety, regulatory compliance and the build quality of the finished product.

Those official credentials are not easy to get – and rightly so. Our compliance colleagues and technical specialists work hard to ensure we achieve the necessary standards both today and tomorrow. Our commitment is not just to deliver practical and beautifully-designed leisure vehicles but also to build them to the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What is Type Approval?

Type Approval from the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) is considered the gold standard for vehicle manufacturing compliance in the UK.

The process confirms the campervan converter’s entire production process meets strict national standards when it comes to safety and construction.

That means approved conversions are registered as ‘M1 motor caravans’ on the vehicle’s V5 logbook. In turn, approved conversions can benefit your vehicle insurance and also resale value.

VCA Type Approval is different to Individual Vehicle Approval, which is for a single vehicle, because it certifies the entire production process.

Our T7 Freedom holds GB Unlimited Series Whole Vehicle Type Approval, which reflects the inhouse engineering and quality assurance, and you can read more about it here.

CamperKing’s latest launch – the VW T7 Go! – is aiming for Type Approval to be achieved within the next few months.

We ensure each stage of production, from design to the finished product, is carefully managed to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and also our own internal quality benchmarks. It’s a vitally important part of the process.

We are also working towards NCC Approval and ultimately Motorhome Qualified Converter status from VW.

Our awards so far...

The CamperKing team is rightly proud of our build quality, craftmanship and innovation. In turn that is reflected in our awards.

We feel it’s important to support industry awards programmes, even if we don’t always win them, because they help all manufacturers, converters and dealerships raise the bar with consumers in mind. Awards programmes push companies to do better and ultimately that means the products people buy are all the better for it.

The importance of accreditation

CamperKing has accreditation for ISO 9001 Quality, part of UKAS Management Systems, for our HQ, factory and bodyshop.

The certification is based on a number of important principles that go hand-in-hand with good business practice such as being customer-focussed and continuously looking for ways to improve.

This year CamperKing achieved a full pass with zero non-conformances. The auditors highlighted the production team’s professionalism, knowledge, engagement and positive attitude.

We feel it demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards, teamwork and pride for our products and the business.

We’re also proud to be a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s Dealer Partner Scheme. The Caravan and Motorhome Club has more than one million members and is approaching its 120th anniversary. The Club plays a leading role in the campsite and leisure vehicle industry.

Support doesn’t end with the handover

As stated by CamperKing’s owner, Spencer Grey, customers deserve back-up, service and warranty once they have bought one of our campervans.

Our drive is to keep CamperKing vans in peak condition so you can enjoy the many adventures ahead through excellent aftersales care and support. Our skilled technicians, who have years of experience of working exclusively on VW Transporter vehicles, provide interim and full services plus MOTs.

We also carry out habitation checks, and if you buy directly from CamperKing, you can benefit from our rolling lifetime warranty on the habitation, provided it is renewed by having a habitation check with us every 12 months from the first year of ownership.
