Wales vs England: Our top campsites in each country
It’s the battle of the home nations in the final Qatar World Cup group B game tonight, as Wales face off against neighbours England, in a tightly contested group where all four teams can still qualify!
Both of these nations remain a special place for campers, with stunning views from Keswick to Kent, Snowdonia to Swansea, and much more. With that in mind, we thought we’d celebrate this huge game with a look at our Club CamperKing members’ favourite places to stay in both countries, should you ever find yourself stuck for ideas.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at the finest campsites frequented by Club CamperKing members. First, to Cymru itself…
Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park
Based down on the Gower, the Holiday Park overlooks the stunning coastal scenery accompanied with Three Cliffs Bay. Situated along the Wales Coastal Path, the Park offers everything from Glamping to Camping and Touring pitches, and the dog friendly site is a lovely walk from the beach.
Looking for something more from your trip? Take a short drive to Mumbles, taking in the sights and smells of the coastal town, but not forgetting to treat yourself to a delightful stop at Joe’s ice-cream store.
Shell Island Campsite
Situated within Snowdonia National Park, Shell Island offers idyllic views across the North Wales coastline. With a whopping 300 acres of camping land available, Shell Island comes in as the biggest campsite in the UK, and features amongst some of Europe’s largest.
With clean and crisp beaches on offer, there’s plenty for all to enjoy on a stay there, along with some stunning dunes as far as the eye can see, making it perfect for a family holiday.
Fforest Fields Caravan & Camping Park
A different type of scenery surrounds Fforest Fields near Llandrindod Wells in Powys, but the views are still up there with the best that you could ask for. With rolling hills as far as the eye can see, Fforest Fields offers everything from yurts to typical touring pitches.
It’s a dog friendly site, with a farm slap bang in the middle, so there really is something for everyone to enjoy, and if you’re looking for a new activity to try, why not have a go at paddle boarding on the nearby lake?
Bargoed Farm
A real favourite of our Club CamperKing members up finally for the Welsh. Bargoed Farm is an award winning campsite located in the heart of Cardigan Bay, and is open all year round!
With plenty of walking routes around, and a hot-tub added in for 20 exclusive pitches, it’s easy to see why there’s such an attraction to the Farm.
On top of that, there’s an onsite farmshop and Bistro with the glorious name of ‘The Moody Cow’, as well as a nearby play area for kids, the ‘Moody Calf Play Barn’, which combines both indoor and outdoor soft-play.
Now that we’ve covered some of the best sites on offer in Wales, let’s have a dive and see what our Club CK members were able to find across England.
Low Wray Campsite
There’s a slightly different feel to our selection of English campsites, with not as many found along the coast. Despite this, we’ve still identified plenty of quality attractions.
Starting off with Low Wray, situated within the stunning landscape of the Lake District, you’ll find yourself nestled alongside the soothing shores of Windermere. It’s a dog friendly site, with plenty of water sports on offer, including kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding to name a few.
Bos Verbas Camping
Located 200m off the main Penzance to Helston road, Bos Verbas will allow you access to the stunning scenery of Praa Sands, and the west of Cornwall.
St. Michael’s Mount isn’t a stone’s throw away, but definitely within reach, as are plenty of other attractions and restaurants, including a nine-hole golf course nearby. More of a potential getaway for two, Bos Verbas is adult-only, providing the perfect vibe for a quiet stay.
The Pig Place
Just outside of Oxford, The Pig Place is a picturesque canalside campsite close to the market town of Banbury, which also happens to be the nearest major town to CamperKing HQ. With a licensed farm shop on site, as well as a lovely outdoor café in the summer, you can find yourself relaxing away by the pig pens, or enjoying the calmness surrounded by ducks.
The food available on-site is one of the main selling points here, but its proximity to Oxford city centre (20 miles), will also be a major draw to visitors who want to experience culture and history.
